Creating an Environment for Family Bible Study

Valuing the Bible in your family is one thing. Actually integrating the Word into the daily operation of your home is a bit harder. If you're a normal parent like me, you know first-hand the tension between wanting your entire family to embrace the Word BUT knowing your kids would rather watch TV in their free time. If I'm completely honest, I would admit that my kids get that from their father. (But I don't think I'll be honest...it's much easier to blame it on the Disney Channel.)

Mark-driscoll I have a great deal of respect for pastor Mark Driscoll from up in the Seattle area. I don't agree with every single thing that comes out of his mouth, but I love his no-nonsense approach to many issues of faith, church, and family.

On his blog this week, he posted some of the things that he does with his family to foster a love of the scriptures. He opens the door of his home to show what things each of his kids (at different ages) are involved in. It served as a great reminder and an idea resource for me and I pray that it does for you, as well.  Enjoy!

A few questions for all of us:

What do you do to encourage your kids to get into the Word?

How do you and your spouse foster discussion about and application of the Scriptures?

We would love to hear your thoughts on this issue. Please comment below and sharpen the rest of us with what God is doing in YOUR home.
