I would like to invite you to a brand new Sunday morning class specifically designed to address the needs of parents of older teenagers. It is called “LAUNCH: A Community for Parents of High School Students."
We’re calling it LAUNCH because the countdown has started to the time when you’ll have to launch your teenager into the world. If you are like me, there are significant issues and worries that make you unsure if they will be ready. In fact, there are plenty of struggles we are all facing now that we need biblical and practical direction on. LAUNCH will be a place where you can regularly find encouragement and help for the challenges unique to this life-stage.
Some of the “features” of LAUNCH include…
*Weekly large group teaching from a variety of both “experts” and normal parents who have wisdom and insights to share. Come learn from their successes and mistakes.
*A safe place to be real, where you can drop the mask that everything is “Great!”.
*Meeting around tables for discussion with other parents with similar school experiences (separate tables for Lassiter parents, Walton, Pope, Private school, home school, etc.).
*Periodic presentations from our student ministry staff, school insiders, etc. to give us insights into the issues our kids are facing.
*An environment that is both practical and biblically-focused, making it the perfect place to invite friends who don’t usually worship at Johnson Ferry.
If you are not currently connected to a small group at Johnson Ferry, LAUNCH will be the perfect place to find fellowship, encouragement, and Bible study on Sunday mornings when you (or your kids) are already here.
LAUNCH will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:50-11:00 a.m. in the Magnolia Room starting on October 31. You are invited to join us for that first meeting as we will give an overview of the format, discuss the “topics” for the first few months, and hear from you on what issues you are facing in your home.
