It's A Frickin' Elephant!
For a light post on this weekend, I thought I would pass on something my mom sent to me. She was a public schoolteacher for about a thousand years so she has a keen eye for classroom humor.
Note: If this went viral back in the 90's in the early days of the internet and everyone on the planet has seen it but me, then please forgive me. It was new to me and I thought it was hilarious. Anyway, here's what came over my email:
It's A Frickin' Elephant!
Those who have taught, or love children who have been taught, know this is funny!
My five-year old students are learning to read.
Yesterday one of them pointed at a picture in a zoo book and said,
"Look at this! It's a frickin' elephant!"
I took a deep breath, then asked, "What did you call it?"
"It's a frickin' elephant! It says so on the picture!"
And so it does...
" A f r i c a n Elephant "
Hooked on phonics! Ain't it wonderful?
