Barrett, the Absentee Blogger
Yeah, I've been away from the blog a lot lately.
My desire has always been to keep a consistent stream of content coming your way. Some of it original; most of it borrowed from others. All of it, hopefully, keeping you thinking and praying as you lead your Imperfect and Normal Family towards God's very best. And I have failed you in recent days.
What can I say? How can I explain my absence? I feel that most of my excuses are pretty solid: It's summer. My daughter just got married. I've been on vacation. My computer got stolen. A witch turned me into a newt (I got better).
Whatever the case, you're going to have to forgive me. I'm trying to re-establish some rhythm of life and work and blogging, so I hope you will give me some grace. My computer and file folders are chock-full of some great articles and resources that I have encountered over the past few months. I can't wait to share them with you.
One thing that has me really excited is the HomeLife Center we are launching at Johnson Ferry later in the Fall. I had the opportunity to present the basic plan to about 250 adults at JF on Sunday morning. I'm thrilled about this like nothing else I have been a part of in nearly 25 years of ministry. This resource center will be your one-stop shopping location for keeping your family spiritually on-task. More details to come, but I promise you it is going to be a game-changer for many families.
Another thing I know is that tonight (Tuesday, July 17) at 6:30 PM, Jim Watterson, my incredible cohort in ministry, will be hosting his second Adoption Forum at Johnson Ferry. A team from Bethany will be with us to share all sorts of information about options for adoption and some first steps to take in moving forward. The meeting will take place in the Landing on the 2nd floor off the atrium. If you have even the slightest inclination towards considering adoption, you will want to join us.
Finally, there are just a few hundred tickets left for our Tim Hawkins event on Saturday, July 28. It WILL sell out in the next few days, so go to timhawkins.net to get your tickets. Tim is the funniest and most talented comedian in America and you will not want to miss this family-friendly event. The clip below is a bit twisted and dark, but it should make you smile.

More info from INFO later, but for now, I'm going to the pool with my kids. It's summer, after all!
